Blueprints from the early Detroit techno of Juan Atkins and Metroplex run through both cuts; technology lovingly imbued with soul and emotion. The title track ‘Can’t Make You Happy’ can only be described as a deeply personal, visceral and understated piece of electronic music, with warped, dreamy chord-scapes tugging at the heartstrings behind a tragic vocal refrain. ‘Guess Who’s Back’ moves seamlessly onto the dance-floor, bridging the gaps between House, Techno and Electro music (and having a lot of fun in the process).
