'Kind / Generous' is the second release from New York duo Sleepy & Boo on Colour and Pitch, following their 2020 debut 'Decoding Reality'. 

New York's veteran production and DJ duo Sleepy & Boo have steadily emerged as producers of note in the underground realm. From their home base in the heart of the Big Apple's dynamic dance music scene, the duo have left their mark on countless dancefloors around the world. 

 Geared towards the dancefloor, these two cuts are representative of the duo's studio output, featuring crisp drums, moody stabs, and smooth chords and pads that envelop the listener. These are sophisticated late-night tracks for discerning DJs and music lovers, and highlight the continued progression of Sleepy & Boo's style. 

 Sleepy & Boo have been honoured to work with an array of international labels to showcase their sounds, which covers a wide range from hypnotic, dub-inspired techno to more uplifting, melodic house grooves. The Self Help Group - Temple OS

Brighton alt-folk band The Self Help Group's touching and unique song ‘Temple OS' gets the remix treatment from Gavin Boyce, Grottoes, Rosko & Sumsuch and Eric Shans.

The original song, written by Brighton musician Mark Bruce, founder of The Self Help Group, is inspired by the strange and tragic story of Terry A. Davis. Davis began programming the ‘Temple OS' computer operating system in 2005 after a series of visions in which he claimed God had instructed him to build ‘the Third Temple', as prophesied in the Bible.

Reunited for the first time since their 2009 low-key underground hit ‘Latenite Bypass' on Urban Torque, Rosko & Sumsuch turn in an acid-tinged, string-laden, extended rework of the song, putting Mark's powerful vocal out front and dubbing the song out in the second half.

Off-kilter electronic music hero Q-Burns Abstract Message unveils his brand new Grottoes alias for a meditative, ambient ‘Reversion' of ‘Temple OS', layering guitars over airy synths to build up a densely textured soundscape.

With an album coming soon on Nordic Trax, Irish producer Gavin Boyce delivers a potent and haunting House ‘2MB Distro Mix' of Temple OS, sure to provide many a transcendental dance-floor moment when the clubs finally re-open.

Colour and Pitch regular and 3Bridge Records co-owner Eric Shans stays true to the original version, adding subtle electronic melodies and shimmering chords to delightful effect.

Finally, The Self Group provide an alternate rendition of ‘Temple OS', transforming the song into a languid and warm synth-pop gem.

We are unable to confirm or deny rumours that Dizzy Praet is the new alter ego for a well-known producer hailing from Kiev, Ukraine, with a raft of chart-topping house and techno releases already under his belt. Tim Tonal - Rhythmic Indulgence

Following his much admired reworking of Wolf Hackmine’s ‘One Three One Four’ back in March 2017, Tim Tonal returns to Colour and Pitch with bipartite bubbler, ‘Rhythmic Indulgence’. Releasing his deeply rooted brand of House music for more than 15 years and collaborating with the likes of Jean Jacques Smoothie along the way, Tim Tonal is best known for his work on DiY Discs as one half of Tonal Fusion and Alpha Dogs.

 As you might expect from such a seasoned artist, ‘Rhythmic Indulgence’ is a masterful House music journey split into two parts, ‘Dark Peak’ and ‘Chemical Metal’. Designed with the golden age of outdoor parties and big sound-systems firmly in mind, ‘Tonal’s Dark Peak Version’ steadily builds a compulsive, driving groove before introducing a teasing acid bassline that takes the track up, up and away. Opening with the same subtle breakbeat, ‘Tonal’s Chemical Metal Version’ quickly adds slightly eerie chord pads, giving the track an altogether more expansive feel with dubby techno influences on display, even when the acid hits.

Also a veteran of the mighty DiY Discs under his ‘Peej’ alias, producer Paul Johnston has hit a rich run of form since premiering his ‘PJ Principle’ moniker with the incredible ‘First Principles’ EP on Pete Woosh’s ‘Spirit Wrestlers’ label in 2015. Rendering us speechless when it arrived in the Colour and Pitch office, PJ Principle’s remix of ‘Rhythmic Indulgence’ is simply a modern classic. Warm and potently harmonious deep house, this inventive reworking also tips its hat to the more melodic moments of classic techno labels like Underground Resistance and Metroplex. Closing out proceedings, Wolf Hackmine (also known as Second City Firsts and Steve ‘Griffo’ at his ‘Splosh’ DJ residency) delivers a smooth, bass-led take on ‘Rhythmic Indulgence’, adding hypnotic filtered synths and lush, retro strings.

Mark Ryal - The Red Cell EP

Highly respected underground House and Techno DJ Mark Ryal returns to Colour and Pitch with the follow up to his acclaimed 2015 debut EP ‘4th Floor and Rising’. A long-time resident at Glasgow’s Sub Club during the 90s, Mark often shared the booth with luminaries such as Derrick May and Claude Young, as well as hosting The Red Cell, a Thursday night soiree which gave this EP its title.

The Red Cell EP sees Mark exploring intensely personal themes throughout four musically rich, powerful and emotional compositions. From the dream-like opener ‘Blood Orange’ through a bleakly beautiful two part deep space odyssey ‘Orbiter’, to the elegant and tranquil melody of ‘Martian Sunrise’, ‘The Red Cell’ EP is best enjoyed as one single piece of sonic art.

Tibor Dragán - Early Bird

Hungarian producer and DJ Tibor Dragán makes his Colour and Pitch debut with Early Bird, a smooth and atmospheric deep house cut, typical of the cinematic and orchestral sound with which he's swiftly building his reputation. ‘Early Bird' is a touching, subtle and highly evocative slice of electronica, thanks for Tibor's sparse composition, spacious arrangement and immaculate production.

Our very own Sumsuch couldn't resist remixing the track, blending many of the original parts with an entirely new creation based around warm, stirring chord pads, weighty bass and uplifting piano in the breakdown.

Sumsuch & Danny Williams - We Give

Colour and Pitch label owner Will Sumsuch teams up with friend and occasional DJ partner Danny Williams for 'We Give', a dreamy piece of melodic and spiritual deep house. The pair first met in 2008 during the Movida Corona DJ championships, in which Danny was competing and Will had been asked to act as judge for a regional heat. Danny's impeccable mixing and track selection took him all the way to the UK finals that year, making a lasting impression on Will, who continues to rank Danny among his favourite DJs. It took the pair 8 years of spinning records together to finally get into the studio, but the resulting music is worth the wait. Diving in at the deep end for his first ever studio session, Danny supplies poetic spoken word vocals on both tunes, as well as guiding Will's hand on production and arrangement.

Title track 'We Give' is a lazily euphoric deep house piece, combining life-affirming, heavily effected vocals with comforting chords, laid over a heavyweight UK bassline. San Francisco dance music legend Gavin Hardkiss provides an up-tempo, bouncy and twisted interpretation of 'We Give' infused with eerie, other-wordly sounds and that unmistakable West Coast Hardkiss swagger.
A fitting companion to 'We Give', 'Already One' continues in the same melodic, understated vein. The subtle, slow-burning arrangement is surely inspired by Danny's regular trips to Lee Burridge's 'All Day I Dream' events, not to mention the pair's shared love of emotional, spine-tingling breakdowns. Already back in the studio working on new material, we hope you enjoy this maiden voyage from Sumsuch & Williams, an exciting new partnership that’s forming a special musical character of its own.

Sumsuch - The Dust Bowl EP

The Dust Bowl is a concept EP of sorts, drawing inspiration from the Great Depression in the American Midwest as a commentary on today's musical climate. With a general redistribution of wealth away from artists and toward giant tech companies, underground music could conceivably be facing a ‘dust bowl' scenario of its own.

 As Sumsuch puts it: "So many DJs and producers are ploughing the same dry furrows of social media, fake success and delusional hopes, whilst the reality is a barren landscape, plundered of all nutrients and substance. Those of us who've always lived here know how to survive, but it's a tough environment."

 Brooding opening track ‘Dust Bowl Dreams' could not embody the concept more fully, dominated by swirling, whooshing synth atmospheres and eerie chord fragments. Sumsuch took the decision to perform the filter sweeps and arrangement live in order to add even more tension and grit. ‘Guiding Light' offers a beacon of hope, an escape from the desolation of The Dust Bowl. Warm bass and haunting piano chords make this Deep House gem feel comforting and familiar. "Could you be my guiding light?" ask Sumsuch's heavily effected lyrics. Q-Burns Abstract Message - QBAM RMX1

It’s both an honour and a privilege for us at Colour and Pitch to present this selection of previously unreleased remixes from leftfield production hero Q-Burns Abstract Message. Since remixing our debut release (‘Simpatico’ by Sumsuch), we’ve built a close relationship with the mercurial Orlando artist, and our constant pestering for more music has finally paid off. Rescued from obscurity and lovingly remastered, RMX1 is made up of vintage Q-BAM reworks that never saw the light of day for one reason or another. It’s been a true labour of love tracking down the original artists and getting deals agreed, but one listen to this EP makes all the hard work worthwhile.

 Opening the EP is a breaksy, atmospheric and psychedelic version of Church Williams’s 2013 indie-pop gem ‘Touch The Sun’. Next up Q-BAM tackles ‘Absence’ by underground trip-hop/synth pop collective ‘The Antirealists’, supplying a bass driven, shoe-gazing indie-dance interpretation, which is as addictive as it is unique. The brilliantly named ‘Japanese Insanity’ receives a percussion-led, driving workout, taking their track ‘The Lobster’ into hypnotic dancefloor territory. The remix of Robert McCoy’s ‘Damascus’ builds steadily into a trippy Deep House bubbler, off-kilter in the best possible way. Last but by no means least, Mathew Scot’s ‘Trauma’ is re-imagined in a style reminiscent of West Coast House music during its mind-expanding golden era. Brimming with inventiveness and creativity, these 5 remixes see Q-Burns Abstract Message at his vintage, genre-defying best; somehow managing to sound cerebral and visceral all at once. We hope you enjoy this special selection of truly unique electronica: Q-BAM has assured us there are more hidden gems in his vaults, so watch out for RMX2!

Mark Ryal - 4th Floor and Rising

Our 13th release sees a long awaited solo debut from a true heavyweight of underground techno and house culture, Mark Ryal. Resident at Glasgow’s seminal ‘Sub Club’ back in the 1990’s, Mark regularly shared the booth with the likes of Derrick May and Claude Young while hosting legendary nights such as UK Gold, Red Cell and Aqua Planet.

Upon moving to Barcelona in 1997, Mark quickly established himself as a fixture in the city’s emerging techno scene, as well as opening his own record shop, Indeep. Now running a stunning restaurant just outside the city, Mark’s focus has turned to production, driven by a lifetime’s worth of dance music knowledge.

 Reminiscent of Stacey Pullen & Chez Damier’s most delicate works, the ‘4th Floor & Rising EP’ is packed full of emotion and old-school charm. Made entirely on an MPC and a selection of synthesizers, this is underground House music in it’s purest form, chopped and arranged on the fly, constantly touched by human hand rather than letting machines do the work.

Finest Wear - From The Garden EP

Gradually gathering a strong international following for his effortlessly deep sound, London producer Finest Wear returns to Colour and Pitch for his third EP on the label. Title track ‘From The Garden’ is first up, packed with wholesome, inviting pads and smooth percussion building steadily into a deeply satisfying groove. ‘If It Were Jazz’ introduces dreamy spoken word into the mix over a truly beguiling track, which sounds to us like a long-lost classic. ‘In a Dream’ is a low slung, techno-infused affair, with a booming bass-line and hypnotic synths. Showing his moodier side, Finest Wear closes out the EP with ‘Thunder’, surely a delight for those who like a little darkness in their Deep House.

 Lovingly premastered onto analogue tape, we’ve attempted to retain the warm and imperfect sound of House music the way it always used to sound: in our opinion, the way it should sound.

Aiby - Can't Make You Happy

One half of the brilliant Aiby & The Noise, Vanessa Rodriguez is a producer, DJ and DIY vocalist from Barcelona, Spain. Over the last year or so she’s been mostly locked in the studio getting to grips with an increasingly large array of analogue synths. Her hard work is now bearing sweet fruit, in the form of a very special pair of productions for Colour and Pitch.

Blueprints from the early Detroit techno of Juan Atkins and Metroplex run through both cuts; technology lovingly imbued with soul and emotion. The title track ‘Can’t Make You Happy’ can only be described as a deeply personal, visceral and understated piece of electronic music, with warped, dreamy chord-scapes tugging at the heartstrings behind a tragic vocal refrain. ‘Guess Who’s Back’ moves seamlessly onto the dance-floor, bridging the gaps between House, Techno and Electro music (and having a lot of fun in the process). We’re immensely proud to be entrusted with these two spectacular tracks; we hope you love them as much as we do!

Tinted Sounds Vol.1 - Winter 2014

Celebrating our first full year in existence, we are proud to present three wintery highlights from our first few releases, which might have passed you by the first time around.

First up is Myles Serge’s sublime, mournful, melodic techno remix of our debut release ‘Simpatico’. It’s been a massive year for Michigan native Myles, with his first ever set at the legendary Berghain club in Berlin, as well as a raft of quality releases across the techno World. We can’t wait to have him back on the label, but until then we’ll leave you with this very special track.

If Colour and Pitch is a family, then Finest Wear must surely be the daddy. His two EPs on the label have defined our sound, as well as gaining critical acclaim and heavyweight support. We’ve chosen an underrated gem from his debut EP ‘Distant Memories’ to showcase here.

Finally, Czech duo A-Bee & Tom Vagabondo complete our package with a remix of Teysel’s ‘Continuous’. Dark, moody and full of attitude, this is a perfect tune for a cold weather stomp.

Sumsuch - Simpatico feat. Will Brock

Our debut release comes from underground stalwart Sumsuch, whose previous releases on Urban Torque, Apollo & Seven Music have found favour with deep-thinking music lovers across the globe.

The title track 'Simpatico' features vocals from multi-instrumentalist and Philadelphia soul-man Will Brock, adding a seductive warmth to Sumsuch's typically emotive & atmospheric musical backdrop.

The first remix in the package comes from US techno powerhouse and self confessed ‘reclusive perfectionist’, Myles Sergé. His take on the original can only be described as a mournful and tender slice of techno, twinned with off-kilter, driving percussion which creates a beguiling groove.

Next up Orlando native and production hero Q Burns Abstract Message lends his own special touch to Simpatico, complete with rolling drums and a dubby bassline. Treading the fine line between "eclectic experimenter and populist ass-shaker", Q BAM supplies a vintage reworking which defies genre tags. All we can tell you is that it's very, very good.

A final track from Sumsuch completes the package, full of emotional strings, moving basslines and just the right amount of acid. This instrumental track sees Sumsuch at his cinematic best, as he recreates a journey across Philadelphia on the scenic road known as 'Kelly Drive'.

The Philly connection throughout 'Simpatico' is no coincidence. As Sumsuch himself puts it: "Every artist from Philadelphia I've worked with over the years has brought a level of talent, soul, inspiration and magic to each project which I have simply not experienced in any other city on Earth. In Will Brock, I have found yet another Philadelphia collaborator to stretch and challenge me artistically. So this record is humbly dedicated to the City of Brotherly Love. There truly is something in the water!"
