Glass Slipper - Momentary Joy

Following a series of scintillating live shows in their hometown of Austin, producer/vocal duo Glass Slipper return to Colour And Pitch with new single ‘Momentary Joy’, featuring a remix by Chicago’s own Andrew Emil.

Smooth, soulful house with powerhouse vocals by Lisa Cork-Twiss, ‘Momentary Joy’ calls for a life beyond the day-to-day grind, while classic chord stabs and an M1 organ bass-line propel the track into dance-floor territory.

Andrew Emil remains the only recording artist to produce simultaneously for Derrick Carter’s Classic Music Company, Mark Farina’s Great Lakes Audio, Gene Farris’s Farris Wheel Recordings, and Steve “Silk” Hurley’s S&S Records. Put simply, Andrew Emil is firmly entrenched among Chicago’s House music elite and we are delighted to welcome him to Colour and Pitch for the first time.

Andrew’s ‘Dreamix’ combines hard-hitting drums, subtle jazz-tinged percussion and a hypnotic bassline, washed over by lush pads and atmospherics. For those who prefer their house a little stripped back, Emil’s ‘Dreamstrumental’ dub will definitely hit the spot.

Sumsuch & Danny Williams - We Give

Colour and Pitch label owner Will Sumsuch teams up with friend and occasional DJ partner Danny Williams for 'We Give', a dreamy piece of melodic and spiritual deep house. The pair first met in 2008 during the Movida Corona DJ championships, in which Danny was competing and Will had been asked to act as judge for a regional heat. Danny's impeccable mixing and track selection took him all the way to the UK finals that year, making a lasting impression on Will, who continues to rank Danny among his favourite DJs. It took the pair 8 years of spinning records together to finally get into the studio, but the resulting music is worth the wait. Diving in at the deep end for his first ever studio session, Danny supplies poetic spoken word vocals on both tunes, as well as guiding Will's hand on production and arrangement.

Title track 'We Give' is a lazily euphoric deep house piece, combining life-affirming, heavily effected vocals with comforting chords, laid over a heavyweight UK bassline. San Francisco dance music legend Gavin Hardkiss provides an up-tempo, bouncy and twisted interpretation of 'We Give' infused with eerie, other-wordly sounds and that unmistakable West Coast Hardkiss swagger.
A fitting companion to 'We Give', 'Already One' continues in the same melodic, understated vein. The subtle, slow-burning arrangement is surely inspired by Danny's regular trips to Lee Burridge's 'All Day I Dream' events, not to mention the pair's shared love of emotional, spine-tingling breakdowns. Already back in the studio working on new material, we hope you enjoy this maiden voyage from Sumsuch & Williams, an exciting new partnership that’s forming a special musical character of its own.

Da Funk - The Prophecy

A friend, featured remixer and supporter of Colour and Pitch since day one, we are delighted to welcome Da Funk back to our little label, this time with brand new original track ‘The Prophecy'. Boasting releases on Pacha Recordings and Anjunadeep as well as his own Acryl Music, Da Funk is just as prolific as he is talented. 'The Prophecy' is a rolling, deep and energetic slice of tech house aimed squarely at the dance-floor. Da Funk expertly builds up an atmospheric groove over the first three minutes before unleashing old-school acid tweaks, drum breaks and finally a wonderfully uplifting piano hook that's sure to raise the roof.

Label owner Sumsuch takes the helm for the first of two remixes, dirtying up Da Funk's chord stabs by putting them through a guitar amp whilst adding warm, deep bass and classic House drums for a late-night club workout. Sumsuch's trademark melodic approach is highly evident however, particularly in the smooth, chord-laden breakdown.

Ultra-talented London producer Finest Wear provides the second remix, which is typically intricate, floaty and deep. Showcasing that euphoric piano alongside teasing breakbeat snippets somehow lends this version the feel of a 90's rave classic, without any need for hi-vis jackets or Vick's Vapour Rub to enhance the experience.

Sumsuch - Live Now feat. Matty Eeles

Colour and Pitch’s third outing sees label founder Sumsuch reconnect with long time vocal collaborator Matty Eeles for an uplifting slice of deep house music. Following the success of last year's "This Old Town," a fundraising single for mental health charity Mind, the duo headed straight back into the studio. The result is another vocal-backed slice of melodic, evocative, string-laden magic.

Matty's soaring vocal range and beautiful lyrics deftly transform what was a deeply personal instrumental track - originally dedicated to a lost love - into a stirring call of “live now, not what has been.” Both a Vocal Mix and ’Blue Coat’ Instrumental are included in the release.

The first remix comes from Swiss production powerhouse Da Funk, a dream artist for the label. With releases on Anjunadeep, Pacha, and many other great labels to his name, quality and consistence has made him a credible name for house music. His 'La Boheme’ version adds some blissful rays of warm sunshine, dropping the tempo down into beach-lounging territory whilst retaining many elements of the original, only slightly accented by his own special touches.

The second remix comes from Minotaurs, a rather special and often rare Helsinki recording duo better known by its individual parts: local hero Sachrias and transient performer Sumsuch. Since remixing Ricky Ryan's incredible "4 The Love" back in 2011, the pair have been laying down tracks every time Sumsuch visits Finland to DJ. Aimed squarely at the dance-floor with its growling bass line, this simple but effective arrangement is the product of a single joyful afternoon in the studio on a hot summer's day in 2013.

'Live Now' is out on Monday March 10th 2014, exclusively on Beatport. Click HERE to grab your copy.
