Eric Shans - In Memoriam

Brooklyn producer Eric Shans returns to Colour and Pitch with his new EP 'In Memoriam', comprising three typically sweeping, melodic cuts.

Eric's great ability to communicate emotion through his music is displayed in full effect on title track 'In Memoriam', which blends mournful guitar licks with cinematic chords and a hypnotic, floaty groove.

'Spectres' shows a slighter darker, more insistent edge, with tougher drums and delightfully lo-fi, glassy pads. Finally, 'Tomorrow Will Never Come' reminds us to concentrate on the here and now, a message delivered with a distinct nod to classic synth-pop from yesteryear.

Tracklist:
1. In Memoriam
2. Spectres
3. Tomorrow Will Never Come

DJ Joma - Rhia (Beauty) feat. Moon Aton

Talented Belfast DJ Joma makes his production debut on Colour and Pitch with melodic deep house cut 'Rhia', featuring spoken word vocals from German artist Moon Aton.

Host of the brilliant "Thru The Looking Glass" podcast, DJ Joma also regularly plays on Data Transmissions Radio, Ibiza Global Radio and Pure Ibiza Radio. Before the pandemic he was a regular fixture on terraces and venues in Eastern Europe, where his melodic, spine-tingling selections brought a distinctly Balearic vibe to the terraces and beaches of the Adriatic coast.

His first ever production, 'Rhia' caught our ears thanks to its dreamy, wistful atmosphere, perfectly reflected by Moon Aton's beautiful musings on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's words: "the soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone." Second track 'Sasha' opens with mournful piano chords, before gradually unfolding into something subtly uplifting. An instrumental version of 'Rhia' is also included in the package for good measure.

There will be more to come from Joma on Colour and Pitch this year, so standby for more melodic, evocative goodness in the very near future.

Tim Tonal - Switchback Remixed

Tim Tonal returns to Colour and Pitch with even more remixes of his gorgeous underground hit 'Switchback', featuring Finest Wear, Andrew Duke and Eric Shans.

Tim harks back to his UK rave roots with 'Switchback III', a delightfully retro version of the track, featuring uplifting synth strings, a euphoric piano breakdown and a dance-floor ready arrangement straight from the 90s.

Colour and Pitch stalwart Finest Wear turns in a typically classy, deep reworking with bouncy drums and tight stabs.

Canadian Andrew Duke steers 'Switchback' into darker, headier territory, with his atmospheric and heavy-grooving take on the track.

Finally, Brooklyn's Eric Shans serves up a deep, melodic and ever-so-slightly proggy version, typical of the 3Bridge Records sound.

Eric Shans feat. Stephanie Lombardo - All Of My Love

New York producer Eric Shans reunites with singer songwriter Stephanie Lombardo for touching, unaffected duet 'All Of My Love', with remixes by Sumsuch and Tibor Dragan.

First joining forces on 2018 track 'Feel Alive' on Colour and Pitch, Eric Shans and Stephanie Lombardo have come up with another gem of a tune. 'All Of My Love' is a charming love song with a simple message, sung over Eric's clean, melodic production.

Colour and Pitch founder Sumsuch completely rebuilds 'All Of My Love' from the ground up, transforming the song into a life-affirming, disco infused cut, laden with piano chords, subtle strings and acoustic drums. He also delivers a fun 'Voxstamental' version, replacing the singers with smooth vocoder chords.

Finally, hotshot Hungarian producer Tibor Dragan turns in a delightfully deep revision, filled with warm chords and spine-tingling melodies.

 Analogue mastering by Rob Small.

Latch - Frida

Colour and Pitch is delighted to present 'Frida', the debut release by Latch, the Brighton based duo of DJ Lee Garrett and musician James Morpeth.

Perfectly encapsulating the melodic, soul-stirring sound Colour and Pitch always strives for, 'Frida' is a subtle, shimmering piece of deep house art, with warm analogue synths meeting rolling percussion in a teasing evolution that satisfies without ever quite reaching crescendo.

Local hero Lee Garrett has a long history in House music, building a well-deserved reputation for both his truly outstanding selections and his technical ability, always staying true to the music without ever resorting to hype or self promotion.

James Morpeth is talented live musician and producer, with a history in soul, afrobeat, folk, pop, electronica and more.

Coming together to form Latch, the pair began to blend Morpeth's rich musicality and texture with hypnotic rhythms and soulful colour, all overseen by Garrett's deeply-rooted dance-floor knowledge.

'Frida' is just the first in a trio of releases from Latch on Colour and Pitch- standby for more.

Jon Delerious - I Feel This

Veteran Calgary producer Jon Delerious makes his Colour and Pitch debut with two original tracks, ‘I Feel This’ and ‘Alright’, plus a remix by UK hotshot Finest Wear.

Title track ‘I Feel This’ is a typically crisp, clean production from Jon Delerious; a steady grooving deep house bubbler with addictive synth chords set to stun.

‘Alright’ lays down a more muted, hypnotic atmosphere, with delayed stabs and subtle arpeggios riding over its beautifully constructed bass-line.

Finest Wear rounds off the package with an arresting remix of ‘I Feel This’, blending ethereal chords with potent drums to create dance-floor magic for true heads.

Tibor Dragan - I Believe in You

Following first-rate releases and remixes on Rogue Decibels, Ready Mix and Itom to name but a few, Hungarian producer and DJ Tibor Dragan returns to Colour and Pitch with ‘I Believe in You’, a tender and melodic cut, presented with remixes from BiG AL and Gavin Boyce.

Tibor Dragan’s original version of ‘I Believe in You’ is an ethereal, dream-like journey with wistful chords and spine-tingling strings, perfect for moments of reverie on the terrace.

Boasting a clutch of incredible releases on Nordic Trax and other great labels, we’ve been keen to have Irish producer Gavin Boyce join us on Colour and Pitch for a few years now. It’s been worth the wait- Gavin’s remix of ‘I Believe In You’ is simply a perfectly poised house production; deep in the truest possible sense.

Ready Mix Records founder and Middle Eastern electronic music pioneer, BiG AL (aka BIGz) turns in a typically thoughtful and smooth rework, setting up a flawless groove before letting Tibor’s original chords ride out during the breakdown.

Third Floor Tiger - Years of Hide and Seek

Third Floor Tiger is a solo project by musician and composer Tudor Moore. Tudor was an early member of Afterlife and contributed to some of the enduring classics of the 90's Ibiza Cafe del Mar scene.

2009 saw the first Third Floor Tiger release on the UK house label Urban Torque, titled Sub Rosa. Far from being prolific in output, there were releases on the chic Parisian imprint Wagram and Subatomic amongst others. In the years since, Tudor has been studying classical composition, pure mathematics and machine learning. Through this he began designing and programming computer instruments, the first of which appears on this single - the Riemann Pad.

Featuring cello by Matt Constantine and live horns by Tudor himself, ‘Years Of Hide And Seek' is a deeply moving fusion of classical and electronic music. Stirring, melancholic and uplifting in equal measure, the piece feels cinematic and powerful; in the midst of a disposable era, here's some real substance.

Colour and Pitch founder Sumsuch provides a lush and sensitive deep house reworking, letting the cello parts work their magic over subtle electric piano and hangdrum atmospheres. Finally Leigh Morgan (the man who signed both Tudor and Sumsuch to Urban Torque all those years ago) turns in a delightfully wonky and unique remix, nicely representing the charismatic sound for which his new ‘Fancy Human' imprint is becoming well known and loved. This release marks a strong return for Third Floor Tiger after a decade in the wilderness. Years of Hide And Seek, but mostly hiding.

Weston Butler - Moonshadows

For our 41st release on Colour and Pitch, we are delighted to welcome New York music-maker Weston Butler to the label family with progressive gem, Moonshadows.

Introduced to us by 3Bridge Records director Eric Shans, Weston Butler has spent the last few years building a solid reputation for melodic, subtle DJ sets at venues such as Cielo, Good Room, and ANALOG BKNY.

Although Weston Butler is a fairly new name to the production scene, 'Moonshadows' shows impressive maturity both in composition and arrangement; a deep and progressive journey that's simply a joy from start to finish.

Eric Shans adds orchestral touches to 'Moonshadows' with his languid, slow-building rework, adding sweeping strings and subtle synth touches that border on cinematic.

Former Sub Club and Nitsa Club resident DJ and now a compelling production talent to boot, Mark Ryal delivers a typically genre-defying, vintage and authentically deep remix of Moonshadows, shimmering with nocturnal beauty.

TwelveBitMusic - Life

Following the underground buzz created by their 2015 debut release ‘First Flight', Cenzo Scoglio (aka Finest Wear) and James Hockley return to Colour and Pitch under their ‘TwelveBitMusic' alias with new EP, ‘Life'.

From the expansive opener ‘Who We Are', it's clear we are in the hands of a mature and prodigiously talented production partnership. ‘The Beat Down' goes down a slightly more progressive road, with delicious synth stabs and a growling bass-line. ‘In Our Minds' creates a hypnotic atmosphere thanks swirling arpeggios and subtle acid touches. Finally ‘Through This Life' summons up memories of 90's raving as it builds to a crescendo just south of euphoric.

Named by Traxsource as one of the top 100 deep house artists of 2017, Finest Wear's career has blossomed since his 2013 label debut, signing tracks to Large Music and Nordic Trax as well as his spiritual home of Colour and Pitch. James Hockley's enviable dance music credentials were sealed when he replaced MJ Cole as programmer and engineer at a private studio in London. He's produced an album with Chicane and remixed Fedde Le Grande, Armin Van Buuren and BT among many others.

Sumsuch - Hand Me Down Demons

Hand Me Down Demons, an EP by Sumsuch
Colour and Pitch founder and BBE recording artist Sumsuch returns to his own label with brand new solo EP ‘Hand Me Down Demons'. Exploring the power held by ghosts from the past to damage or even destroy our relationships if we let them, ‘Hand Me Down Demons' is split into three distinct movements. Originating as an improvised piano piece, ‘We Should Talk' quickly evolved into a subtle, warm deep house instrumental, with analogue drums and bass providing a bed for plaintive, heartfelt melodies. Title track ‘Hand Me Down Demons' has a grittier character, with a heavily tweaked acid bass-led groove and eerie vocal harmonies creating a dense, late-night club atmosphere. ‘Slipping Under' closes the EP with a simple classical piano composition set over swirling synth atmospheres and distant seagull cries, symbolizing that final, teary-eyed ending. Music-making at its most cathartic, we hope you enjoy this resonant journey from joy to melancholy in the company of some Hand Me Down Demons we've probably all met before.

Dizzy Praet - Dreams

Poised elegantly at the crossroads between melodic techno and deep house music, ‘Dreams' is the debut EP from a mysterious artist known only as Dizzy Praet. We are unable to confirm or deny rumours that Dizzy Praet is the new alter ego for a well-known producer hailing from Kiev, Ukraine, with a raft of chart-topping house and techno releases already under his belt. All we could do if you asked us is smile…

Either an ambitious EP or a small yet perfectly formed album, ‘Dreams' comprises six thoughtful, nostalgic, cinematic and at times bleak electronic compositions. Fans of Stimming, Andre Lodemann and HVOB will revel in the stripped back, restrained sound and subtle arrangements. With original artwork created by the artist himself, we invite you to enter the strange and beautiful dream world of Dizzy Praet.

Eric Shans - For The Days Ahead

New York’s Eric Shans returns to Colour and Pitch with stunning 4 track EP ‘For The Days Ahead; a timely sequel to last year’s ‘We Choose’. A fixture on Brooklyn’s deep and tech house club circuit, Eric is also creative director for the excellent 3Bridge Records.

As Mr Shans himself puts it, this EP “explores more themes of loss, escapism, moving on, and living in an unsure world. It goes through different moods we might feel even on a daily basis.”

Dreamy opener ‘Eyes Closed’ sets the tone for the EP, with a soothing piano melody over smooth deep house atmospheres. ‘There Is Nothing’ takes a wistful, orchestral turn, playing with Vangelis-like synth melodies and strings over a warm, progressive groove. Sounding like the closing credits to some emotionally charged movie, ‘Torn Apart’ sees Eric Shans performing powerful piano chords and simple, heart-rending vocals. Closing out the EP on a positive note, ‘From That Day On’ moves back toward the dance-floor with tight, bouncy drums and a highly addictive bass-line.

“For The Days Ahead” reminds us we must always, no matter what, keep moving and keep growing, no matter what life throws at us.

Eric Shans - We Choose EP

New York producer Eric Shans is a staple of the city’s electronic music scene, working as creative director at 3Bridge Records and holding down several DJ residencies, most notably inTRANSIT at TBA Brooklyn. His earliest musical inspirations came from watching new wave videos on MTV as a kid, the echoes of which are more than evident within his debut EP for Colour and Pitch.

Title track ‘We Choose’ is an evocative fusion of clean electronic beats, warm chords and 80’s guitar licks, sure to tickle the heartstrings. ‘Keep A Secret’ combines smooth, deep house with classic 303 acid lines, with a subtle vocal gently whispered into the listener’s ear. ‘Is It Tonight’ pays homage to classic new-wave music with its darker, dense aesthetic; haunting yet deeply sensual. ‘Set Us Free’ closes out the EP as it began, resembling ‘We Choose’ somewhat in terms of feel, with stunning, layered vocals performed by Eric himself.

“This EP was created over the course of a few months and goes between the contrasting worlds of hope, sadness, optimism, caution and the idea of feeling free; moving on and letting go for the now and for the future.” – Eric Shans, 2016

Sumsuch & Danny Williams - We Give

Colour and Pitch label owner Will Sumsuch teams up with friend and occasional DJ partner Danny Williams for 'We Give', a dreamy piece of melodic and spiritual deep house. The pair first met in 2008 during the Movida Corona DJ championships, in which Danny was competing and Will had been asked to act as judge for a regional heat. Danny's impeccable mixing and track selection took him all the way to the UK finals that year, making a lasting impression on Will, who continues to rank Danny among his favourite DJs. It took the pair 8 years of spinning records together to finally get into the studio, but the resulting music is worth the wait. Diving in at the deep end for his first ever studio session, Danny supplies poetic spoken word vocals on both tunes, as well as guiding Will's hand on production and arrangement.

Title track 'We Give' is a lazily euphoric deep house piece, combining life-affirming, heavily effected vocals with comforting chords, laid over a heavyweight UK bassline. San Francisco dance music legend Gavin Hardkiss provides an up-tempo, bouncy and twisted interpretation of 'We Give' infused with eerie, other-wordly sounds and that unmistakable West Coast Hardkiss swagger.
A fitting companion to 'We Give', 'Already One' continues in the same melodic, understated vein. The subtle, slow-burning arrangement is surely inspired by Danny's regular trips to Lee Burridge's 'All Day I Dream' events, not to mention the pair's shared love of emotional, spine-tingling breakdowns. Already back in the studio working on new material, we hope you enjoy this maiden voyage from Sumsuch & Williams, an exciting new partnership that’s forming a special musical character of its own.

Da Funk - The Prophecy

A friend, featured remixer and supporter of Colour and Pitch since day one, we are delighted to welcome Da Funk back to our little label, this time with brand new original track ‘The Prophecy'. Boasting releases on Pacha Recordings and Anjunadeep as well as his own Acryl Music, Da Funk is just as prolific as he is talented. 'The Prophecy' is a rolling, deep and energetic slice of tech house aimed squarely at the dance-floor. Da Funk expertly builds up an atmospheric groove over the first three minutes before unleashing old-school acid tweaks, drum breaks and finally a wonderfully uplifting piano hook that's sure to raise the roof.

Label owner Sumsuch takes the helm for the first of two remixes, dirtying up Da Funk's chord stabs by putting them through a guitar amp whilst adding warm, deep bass and classic House drums for a late-night club workout. Sumsuch's trademark melodic approach is highly evident however, particularly in the smooth, chord-laden breakdown.

Ultra-talented London producer Finest Wear provides the second remix, which is typically intricate, floaty and deep. Showcasing that euphoric piano alongside teasing breakbeat snippets somehow lends this version the feel of a 90's rave classic, without any need for hi-vis jackets or Vick's Vapour Rub to enhance the experience.

Sumsuch - The Dust Bowl EP

The Dust Bowl is a concept EP of sorts, drawing inspiration from the Great Depression in the American Midwest as a commentary on today's musical climate. With a general redistribution of wealth away from artists and toward giant tech companies, underground music could conceivably be facing a ‘dust bowl' scenario of its own.

As Sumsuch puts it: "So many DJs and producers are ploughing the same dry furrows of social media, fake success and delusional hopes, whilst the reality is a barren landscape, plundered of all nutrients and substance. Those of us who've always lived here know how to survive, but it's a tough environment."

Brooding opening track ‘Dust Bowl Dreams' could not embody the concept more fully, dominated by swirling, whooshing synth atmospheres and eerie chord fragments. Sumsuch took the decision to perform the filter sweeps and arrangement live in order to add even more tension and grit. ‘Guiding Light' offers a beacon of hope, an escape from the desolation of The Dust Bowl. Warm bass and haunting piano chords make this Deep House gem feel comforting and familiar. "Could you be my guiding light?" ask Sumsuch's heavily effected lyrics. Following is the only way to be sure.

The Dust Bowl EP is available via Traxsource , iTunes , Beatport , Juno
