Finest Wear - Night Tales

Colour and Pitch favourite Finest Wear returns to the label with a three track EP packed with dancefloor attitude, entitled Night Tales.

With hot releases on Nite Grooves and Nordic Trax to his name, Finest Wear has made several appearances in the Traxsource top 100 Deep House artists list, and with good reason.

His last EP on Colour and Pitch, ‘The Terminal' was a storming success thanks to lead track ‘Go Deeper', and how he returns to us with with a somewhat tougher, peak-time offering.

'Push Me' sets out the stall nicely, with rolling drums and blunted synth giving way to a tough bassline and a subtle vocal hook.

Techno-influenced ‘Ket Corner' was titled after a group of youngsters the producer spotted, possibly enjoying themselves a little too much, during an outdoor event in the Oxfordshire countryside… Let's just say, it's aptly named.

'The Buzz Dub' returns to the familiar Finest Wear sound, with classic Deep House chords and an effortless groove backing the eerie swarm of synth-wasps trying to escape from the speakers.

Sumsuch & Will Brock - You Could Fly

Will Brock and Sumsuch return to Colour and Pitch with uplifting, soulful gem, 'You Could Fly', presented with remixes from Gavin Boyce and Glass Slipper.

Also releasing together on BBE Music as Mega Jawns, the Philly / UK duo of Will Brock and Sumsuch have been releasing music together ever since 'Simpatico', the first ever single on Colour and Pitch back in 2013. 'You Could Fly' is typical of the duo's warm, human, song-based brand of electronic music, with soaring vocals and sparkling piano from Brock, matched with lyrical guitars and smooth production from Sumsuch.

Hot on the heels of his landmark 2021 album 'Anywhere Here' on Nordic Trax, Irish producer Gavin Boyce turns in a typically deep, understated yet intricate revision of 'You Could Fly', slowing the tempo and squeezing even more emotion from Brock's vocals.

Fresh from releases on Reel People Music and Foliage to name but two, and being remixed by the great Atjazz, Austin TX pair Glass Slipper return to Colour and Pitch with a super-soulful re-imagining of 'You Could Fly'. Turning the song into a duet with additional powerhouse vocals from Lisa Cork-Twiss, Glass Slipper's remake takes the song up, up, and away!

The Self Help Group - Temple OS

Brighton alt-folk band The Self Help Group's touching and unique song ‘Temple OS' gets the remix treatment from Gavin Boyce, Grottoes, Rosko & Sumsuch and Eric Shans.

The original song, written by Brighton musician Mark Bruce, founder of The Self Help Group, is inspired by the strange and tragic story of Terry A. Davis. Davis began programming the ‘Temple OS' computer operating system in 2005 after a series of visions in which he claimed God had instructed him to build ‘the Third Temple', as prophesied in the Bible.

Reunited for the first time since their 2009 low-key underground hit ‘Latenite Bypass' on Urban Torque, Rosko & Sumsuch turn in an acid-tinged, string-laden, extended rework of the song, putting Mark's powerful vocal out front and dubbing the song out in the second half.

Off-kilter electronic music hero Q-Burns Abstract Message unveils his brand new Grottoes alias for a meditative, ambient ‘Reversion' of ‘Temple OS', layering guitars over airy synths to build up a densely textured soundscape.

With an album coming soon on Nordic Trax, Irish producer Gavin Boyce delivers a potent and haunting House ‘2MB Distro Mix' of Temple OS, sure to provide many a transcendental dance-floor moment when the clubs finally re-open.

Colour and Pitch regular and 3Bridge Records co-owner Eric Shans stays true to the original version, adding subtle electronic melodies and shimmering chords to delightful effect.

Finally, The Self Group provide an alternate rendition of ‘Temple OS', transforming the song into a languid and warm synth-pop gem.

Tibor Dragan - Follow the Path

Tibor Dragan - Follow the Path
Hungarian talent Tibor Dragan returns to Colour and Pitch with a sublime new cut entitled 'Follow The Path', accompanied by a collaborative remix from David Marston & Sumsuch.

Filled with his trademark shimmering chords and warm, languid production touches, 'Follow The Path' perfectly encapsulates the reason that Tibor Dragan is quickly gaining prominence in the worlds of Deep House and melodic electronica.

Fresh from stellar releases on BBE Music and his own Kindness of Bearer Recordings, Jamaican musician David Marston joins forces with Colour and Pitch founder Sumsuch for a very special remix.

Recorded just before COVID lockdown in Spring 2020, Marston and Sumsuch's rework of 'Follow The Path' began life as an evening spent jamming together on guitar and keys over a few of Dragan's original parts, resulting in an organic and spine tingling set opener with a distinctly live feel.

Eric Shans feat. Stephanie Lombardo - All Of My Love

New York producer Eric Shans reunites with singer songwriter Stephanie Lombardo for touching, unaffected duet 'All Of My Love', with remixes by Sumsuch and Tibor Dragan.

First joining forces on 2018 track 'Feel Alive' on Colour and Pitch, Eric Shans and Stephanie Lombardo have come up with another gem of a tune. 'All Of My Love' is a charming love song with a simple message, sung over Eric's clean, melodic production.

Colour and Pitch founder Sumsuch completely rebuilds 'All Of My Love' from the ground up, transforming the song into a life-affirming, disco infused cut, laden with piano chords, subtle strings and acoustic drums. He also delivers a fun 'Voxstamental' version, replacing the singers with smooth vocoder chords.

Finally, hotshot Hungarian producer Tibor Dragan turns in a delightfully deep revision, filled with warm chords and spine-tingling melodies.

 Analogue mastering by Rob Small.

Daniel Allen - The Mandela Effect

Austin producer Daniel Allen returns to Colour and Pitch with a moody House cut titled 'The Mandela Effect' featuring vocals from Katy Starr, plus remixes from Tibor Dragan and Glass Slipper.

Titled after a theory that parallel realities and dimensions are shifting, causing things to change so that some people remember them to be one way and others remember them another, Daniel and Katy Starr wrote 'The Mandela Effect' after a conversation on the subject in Daniel's studio.

Laden with atmospheric, warm synths and eerie, effected vocals, the original version offers up a smooth, hypnotic House groove with bags of character.

Hungarian producer Tibor Dragan delivers a tour-de-force remix of 'The Mandela Effect'. Melodic, orchestral and uplifting, this is undoubtedly the finest work we've heard from this brilliant artist to date.

Glass Slipper may surprise fans with their version of 'The Mandela Effect', eschewing their usual soulful sound for a more stripped down tech-infused House rework.

To close out the EP, Daniel Allen goes to work under his 'Disappear' moniker, a new home for his downtempo and balearic beats. With an LP dropping later this year, this slo-mo, dubby version of 'The Mandela Effect' is the very first appearance... of Disappear.

Glass Slipper - Embrace Of The Sun

Super-talented, Austin Texas based vocal house duo Glass Slipper unveil two stunning tracks on Colour and Pitch, with remixes from the label's founding fathers Sumsuch and Finest Wear. Comprising veteran (San Francisco) Bay Area producer, Brad Eller, and former vocalist for chart topping dance act 'Real McCoy', Lisa Cork-Twiss, Glass Slipper create uncluttered, hooky deep house tracks with powerful, soulful vocals.

Opening track 'Let's Go To The Light' twins stripped down percussion and warm filtered pads with arresting vocal harmonies which spell out a simple message: "love will see us through". Colour and Pitch label boss Sumsuch extends the track over ten sublime minutes, re-composing the instrumental and adding live pianos to drive home those poignant vocals.

Title track 'Embrace Of The Sun' enters classic deep house territory, with uplifting strings and a warm bass-line providing the perfect backdrop for Lisa's dreamy looped vocals. Named one of the top 100 deep house artists of 2017, Colour and Pitch regular Finest Wear turns in a classic deep and grooving rework, taking the track into late-night dance-floor territory.

Eric Shans - For The Days Ahead

New York’s Eric Shans returns to Colour and Pitch with stunning 4 track EP ‘For The Days Ahead; a timely sequel to last year’s ‘We Choose’. A fixture on Brooklyn’s deep and tech house club circuit, Eric is also creative director for the excellent 3Bridge Records.

As Mr Shans himself puts it, this EP “explores more themes of loss, escapism, moving on, and living in an unsure world. It goes through different moods we might feel even on a daily basis.”

Dreamy opener ‘Eyes Closed’ sets the tone for the EP, with a soothing piano melody over smooth deep house atmospheres. ‘There Is Nothing’ takes a wistful, orchestral turn, playing with Vangelis-like synth melodies and strings over a warm, progressive groove. Sounding like the closing credits to some emotionally charged movie, ‘Torn Apart’ sees Eric Shans performing powerful piano chords and simple, heart-rending vocals. Closing out the EP on a positive note, ‘From That Day On’ moves back toward the dance-floor with tight, bouncy drums and a highly addictive bass-line.

“For The Days Ahead” reminds us we must always, no matter what, keep moving and keep growing, no matter what life throws at us.

Tibor Dragán - Early Bird

Hungarian producer and DJ Tibor Dragán makes his Colour and Pitch debut with Early Bird, a smooth and atmospheric deep house cut, typical of the cinematic and orchestral sound with which he's swiftly building his reputation. ‘Early Bird' is a touching, subtle and highly evocative slice of electronica, thanks for Tibor's sparse composition, spacious arrangement and immaculate production.

Our very own Sumsuch couldn't resist remixing the track, blending many of the original parts with an entirely new creation based around warm, stirring chord pads, weighty bass and uplifting piano in the breakdown.

"Very peaceful and musical composition. Remix is great also. Big ups Tibor." - Ricardo Miranda

Eric Shans - We Choose EP

New York producer Eric Shans is a staple of the city’s electronic music scene, working as creative director at 3Bridge Records and holding down several DJ residencies, most notably inTRANSIT at TBA Brooklyn. His earliest musical inspirations came from watching new wave videos on MTV as a kid, the echoes of which are more than evident within his debut EP for Colour and Pitch.

Title track ‘We Choose’ is an evocative fusion of clean electronic beats, warm chords and 80’s guitar licks, sure to tickle the heartstrings. ‘Keep A Secret’ combines smooth, deep house with classic 303 acid lines, with a subtle vocal gently whispered into the listener’s ear. ‘Is It Tonight’ pays homage to classic new-wave music with its darker, dense aesthetic; haunting yet deeply sensual. ‘Set Us Free’ closes out the EP as it began, resembling ‘We Choose’ somewhat in terms of feel, with stunning, layered vocals performed by Eric himself.

“This EP was created over the course of a few months and goes between the contrasting worlds of hope, sadness, optimism, caution and the idea of feeling free; moving on and letting go for the now and for the future.” – Eric Shans, 2016

Sumsuch & Danny Williams - We Give

Colour and Pitch label owner Will Sumsuch teams up with friend and occasional DJ partner Danny Williams for 'We Give', a dreamy piece of melodic and spiritual deep house. The pair first met in 2008 during the Movida Corona DJ championships, in which Danny was competing and Will had been asked to act as judge for a regional heat. Danny's impeccable mixing and track selection took him all the way to the UK finals that year, making a lasting impression on Will, who continues to rank Danny among his favourite DJs. It took the pair 8 years of spinning records together to finally get into the studio, but the resulting music is worth the wait. Diving in at the deep end for his first ever studio session, Danny supplies poetic spoken word vocals on both tunes, as well as guiding Will's hand on production and arrangement.

Title track 'We Give' is a lazily euphoric deep house piece, combining life-affirming, heavily effected vocals with comforting chords, laid over a heavyweight UK bassline. San Francisco dance music legend Gavin Hardkiss provides an up-tempo, bouncy and twisted interpretation of 'We Give' infused with eerie, other-wordly sounds and that unmistakable West Coast Hardkiss swagger.
A fitting companion to 'We Give', 'Already One' continues in the same melodic, understated vein. The subtle, slow-burning arrangement is surely inspired by Danny's regular trips to Lee Burridge's 'All Day I Dream' events, not to mention the pair's shared love of emotional, spine-tingling breakdowns. Already back in the studio working on new material, we hope you enjoy this maiden voyage from Sumsuch & Williams, an exciting new partnership that’s forming a special musical character of its own.

Sumsuch - Shine (feat. Will Brock)

Since collaborating on ‘Simpatico’, the debut release on Colour and Pitch, US soul-man Will Brock and label boss Sumsuch’s transatlantic partnership has truly blossomed. As ‘Mega Jawns’, their album ‘Ten Letters From Home’ was released in 2014 on BBE Records, with a second album due for release in 2016. Written and recorded in just one night in West Philadelphia during summer 2014, Shine is a spiritual, afro-tinged Deep House track, featuring soaring vocals and life-affirming lyrics from Will Brock.

Having created a truly unique remix for their debut single ‘Simpatico’, it seemed only right to ask aloof production maestro Q-Burns Abstract Message to do it again for ‘Shine’. Effortlessly defying genre tags as usual, his version is a tripped out, deeply touching and achingly beautiful piece of electronic music. Colour and Pitch regular Finest Wear delivers a vintage Deep House reworking, full of light, languid pads over a warm bass-line and masterful drum patterns. Closing out the package, Brock and Sumsuch offer up another taste of their forthcoming album in the form of ‘All Along’, a beautiful soul song laid over light, sunshine-infused House grooves; perfect for beach or terrace lounging.

Under the guise of Mega Jawns, Sumsuch & Brock’s new album ‘Free Yo’ Self’ is due to be released in early 2016 on BBE; until then, enjoy this taste of what’s to come.

Teysel - Continuous

Barcelona based DJ and producer Teysel takes centre stage for C&P’s 5th release, out now on Beatport.

Inspired by underground Chicago and West Coast US house music, Teysel’s traditional, precise approach to DJing is reflected in his compositions. With an EP and several remixes released on German label EUN, he is now also finding his feet as a producer. Title track ‘Continuous’ represents a slice of simple, Berlin influenced, stripped down tech house, full of dark and brooding atmospheres.

Ahead of their forthcoming debut single on Colour and Pitch, Spanish production duo Aiby & The Noise make their entrance (and live up to the second half of their name) with a truly raucous remix of ‘Continuous’. Replaying the bass-line and adding some classic breaks, they transform the track into a growling behemoth; to be handled with caution!

Hailing from Czech Republic, residing in Brighton UK, A-Bee & Tom Vagabondo have released on countless labels both separately and together as The Lazyboys. Their remix of Continuous completes our package with a deep and mournful deep house journey, adding haunting spoken word and bleak, atmospheric synths.

Continuous is out now on Beatport, iTunes, Traxsource & Juno
